专访 Allie X | 创作代表了我的情绪和人生阶段

以电子与艺术流行为创作基底，Allie X 始终在流行音乐的边界探索独有的表达，用充满叙事张力的歌词与完整的概念设计，构建出极具想象力的音乐宇宙。全新专辑《Happiness Is Going To Get You》以循环时空为创作内核，在多元风格的碰撞中，完成对自我情绪与人生阶段的梳理。恰逢首次中国巡演即将启程，UPEE 有幸邀请 Allie X 进行一期专访，探寻创作背后的奇思与体验。

UPEE：我们注意到新专辑《Happiness Is Going To Get You》的字体设计成了一个圈，同时专辑首尾相接，使专辑的收听像一个无限循环的旅程，请问这是刻意为之吗？可否分享在这背后的理念？

Allie X：是刻意为之的。这张专辑视觉设计的灵感之一来自量子物理的概念，即时间是三维且循环的。专辑中的核心角色“婴儿玛丽”（the infant marie）同时存在于多个时空。我和平面设计师 Estera Lazowska 希望在版面的设计中体现这一点，我觉得她的设计非常出色。

Yes it was intentional. One of the inspirations for the visuals on this album was the idea of quantum physics. That time is 3 dimensional and looping. The main character “the infant marie” exists in multiple places. The graphic designer Estera Lazowska and I wanted to reflect this in the layout. I think she did a brilliant job.

UPEE：与此同时注意到在《Happiness Is Going to Get You》的封面中，你身处一个透明的方块中，可以分享这个意象的内涵吗？

Allie X：正如之前提到的，“玛丽”在立方体中处于另一个时空，也就是过去；而立方体之外的观察者，看到的是身处当下的她。

Same meaning as above. The Infant Marie exists in a different time inside the cube (in the past). Whereas observers from the outside of the cube see her in a modern time.

UPEE：你的音乐中经常有以“人名”进行命名的曲目，例如《Galina》以及这次的《Uncle Lenny》，这些名字的来源是随机的，还是确实存在于你身边？

Allie X：有真实的，也有写意化的——这些名字要么代表某个真实的人，要么是融合了几个人的形象，而这些人曾带给我足够强烈的情绪，让我有了创作歌曲的灵感。

Some real, some poetic in that the represent a real person or perhaps a combination of people that gave me enough emotion to write a song.

UPEE：很多乐迷认为 Allie X 的歌词文本很独特，我们好奇在你创作的过程中，通常是先有旋律再填词，还是先有了文本上的想法再进行旋律创作？可以分享你通常创作一首曲目的过程是什么样的吗？

Allie X：感谢你的夸奖。我其实很少从歌词开始创作，更多时候会先有一个歌名或是核心概念。比如《Galina》，这个创作概念在我的笔记里存了好几年。某天晚上我编了一段节奏，将其和这个概念结合，这也为我的歌词创作指明了清晰的方向。

Thank you that’s very nice of you. I actually rarely start with lyrics. More often I might start with a title or a concept. Galina Wake Up for instance, was a concept that lived in my notes for a few years. I made a beat one night and then matched it to that concept and that gave me a strong direction for the lyrics.

UPEE：也有乐迷评论说《Happiness Is Going to Get You》有一种“姬味”，同时你的音乐在中国乐迷之间也非常受酷儿群体欢迎。我们好奇你会如何看待这种在创作上以及受众上的“酷儿性”？

Allie X：我深爱酷儿群体，也对酷儿社群充满感激。

I love the queers. I am so thankful to the queer community.

UPEE：在你最近的三张专辑《Happiness Is Going to Get You》《Girl With No Face》《Cape God》中，你认为哪首歌最能代表你最近几年的心态？

Allie X：说实话，其实每一首都可以。这些歌真切地代表了我人生中不同的情绪和阶段，而我通过把它们写成歌，完成了对这些情绪的梳理。这也是创作本身给我的馈赠。

Hmm all of them honestly. They really represent different emotions and times in my life that I was able to process by turning them into songs. That is the gift of getting to write music.
