专访 Greyson Chance | 现在的我更有自信

年少成名、才华横溢，Greyson Chance 对于中国乐迷们并不陌生，这位持续创作的唱作人在今年终于再次来到中国的上海、南京、深圳、广州、北京、武汉、成都进行一轮 The Gold Tour 巡演。赶在巡演首站前一日，我们在 LiveNation 主办的媒体见面会与 Greyson Chance 进行了一期专访，分享他对巡演的感受以及对明年即将发行的新专辑的期待。
UPEE：你的上一张专辑《Palladium》发行至今已过去三年，近期有关于新专辑的计划吗？
GC：在《Palladium》之后我休息了一段时间。而且我已经为这张新专辑筹备了挺久 —— 大概有两年了。不过我计划明年，也就是 2026 年发行它。我对此非常兴奋，等这次巡演结束回到美国后就会继续完成这张专辑的制作。
Really, I took a little bit of a break after Palladium. And so I’ve been working on this new record for quite some time now - like 2 years. But I’m putting it out next year in 2026. So I’m very excited, and once I get back to the States after this tour, I’ll work on finishing that album.
UPEE：我们之前提到了《Waiting Outside the Lines》这首歌。它最初是源于粉丝的期待，在你创作作品的过程中，粉丝的这些期待会给你带来多大影响呢？
GC：当时我问了粉丝很多关于他们“希望重新录制的作品是什么样的”的问题，因为一开始我有点紧张。我想确保他们会对最终的作品满意，后来我还找了几位粉丝征求他们的意见，而我发现他们每次回复我的核心意思更像是“不，你希望这些作品听起来是什么样的？”听到这样的回答我觉得特别好。所以当我进录音室重新录制这些作品时，我让所有的紧张感都渐渐消散了，然后更专注于眼前的事 —— 专注于我觉得不错的方向，以及我认为合适的感觉。所以，我觉得粉丝们确实很喜欢这些重新录制的作品，而且即便只是制作它们的过程，也让我觉得既引人深思，又在很多方面倍感满足。
I asked the fans a lot about what they wanted from the re-recordings, because I think I was nervous kind of going in. And I wanted to make sure that they would be happy with the products. And so I asked a few fans sort of their input, and I think what they came back to me with each time was more like, “No, what do you want them to sound like?” And I think that was really cool to hear. And so when I went into the studio uh to re-record those, I kind of just let all the nervousness float away, and I was way more focused on, you know, what was in front of me at the moment - what I thought was kind of cool, and what felt right with it. And so, I think the fans have really enjoyed them, and even just making them, it felt reflective and very gratifying in many ways.
UPEE：你很小就以音乐人身份出道了，你觉得现在的自己和职业生涯初期相比，最大的不同是什么？
GC：很明显，现在的我更有自信了 —— 我清楚自己在做什么。现在回想起来，我最常想到的一点是，我很庆幸自己在这一路能始终保持谦逊，也能一直好好地走到现在。那段日子真的很混乱，特别疯狂。一夜成名，而且很快就变得非常有名。这种压力放在任何人身上都难以承受，更别说一个 12 岁的孩子了，这真的很令人却步。所以我很庆幸身边有一群很棒的人支持我。
但我也觉得，一开始就和粉丝建立起深厚的联结也很重要。在过去的 16 年里，我从未觉得自己在这段音乐之路上是孤单的。所以，我觉得这份联结很关键，或许正是它让我在小时候能保持心态稳定。那时候我真切地觉得，我创作音乐既是为了自己，也是为了我所建立的这个粉丝社群，希望能给大家带来一些积极的影响。不过要说最大的不同，大概是我长高了不少，还有现在的我清楚自己在做什么，不像 12 岁那时候。那时候的音乐制作，重心全只是在歌曲创作上。
Yeah, I think obviously a lot more confidence - I know what I’m doing now. I think the thing that I think of the most now, looking back, is that I’m just very grateful that I was able to stay humble and stay ok during it all. It was really quite chaotic, it was quite crazy. Overnight became famous - and became really famous, quite quick. And that’s a lot to put on any person, but to put on a 12-year-old kid, it was very intimidating. And so I think I was really grateful that I had great people around me. But I also, you know, think that what was important was really creating that bond with my fans in the beginning. I’ve never felt like I’ve been alone during this process ever in the past 16 years. And so, um, I think that was important, and maybe that was one of the things that kept me kind of centered as a kid. It really did feel like I was making music for myself, but also making music for the greater good of this community that I built. Um, but yeah, I guess the biggest difference is I’m a lot taller, and I know what I’m doing now, opposed to when I was 12. Back then, production was all about the songwriting.
UPEE：你觉得身为公众人物，既要表达自我，又要满足粉丝期待 —— 这是一件需要你做出选择的事吗？
GC：是的，这需要你自己去琢磨清楚。我觉得我之所以能和粉丝群体保持这么好的关系，关键在于我意识到，他们从不会对我的音乐风格有硬性要求。他们不会主动找我说 “我们希望你做这样的音乐，就该是这样的”。他们明白，对我来说，音乐是我疏导情绪的方式，是我日常生活的陪伴。所以他们知道，我呈现给他们的任何作品，都是我当下真实的心境写照。比如《Palladium》，那张专辑对我来说就很特别。它算不上一张纯粹的流行专辑，虽然里面有一些流行元素，但当时我受到了一位合作制作人的极大启发，也从一些创作人身上获得了灵感，所以我就是想做出一些不一样的东西。于是我围绕这个想法构建了完整的音乐世界，然后把它呈现给粉丝，而粉丝们也全身心地接纳了它。所以他们知道，我不是那种会追逐潮流的艺人 —— 我从没想过要成为最出名的人。这从来都不是我的行事风格。我之所以坚持做音乐，是因为音乐能触动我，而且这也是我这辈子唯一擅长的事。我唯一会做的，就是坐在钢琴前创作。仅此而已，其他所有的一切，都是从这件事延伸开来的。
Yeah, it’s something you have to sort of work out yourself. I think what I have realized and I think this is why I have such a good relationship with my fan base - is that there’s no expectation from them over what the music should sound like. They’re not, you know, hitting me up saying, “This is what we want from you. This is what it is.” They understand that for me, music is a way that I get through my emotions - it’s how I walk through my day-to-day life. So I think they understand that whatever I present to them is just what I was feeling at the time. Like Palladium, for example - that was really different for me. That was not really a pop album, though it had pop aspects and elements. But I was so inspired at that time by a certain producer that I was working with, and I was inspired by certain songwriters, and I just wanted to make something different. And so I created a world around it and presented it to the fans, and the fans embraced it so wholeheartedly. And so I think they know that I’m the type of artist who’s never chasing trends - I’m not trying to be the most famous kid on the block. That’s never really been my mode. I’m here because the music speaks to me, and it’s really the only thing that I know how to do in life. All I really know how to do is sit down at a piano. That’s it, and everything else kind of stems from that.
UPEE：你会如何描述你和粉丝之间的关系？
GC：非常深厚。我觉得我们一起经历了很多，你知道，他们见证了我职业生涯中的每一次起起落落。而且我们之间总有一种怀旧感 —— 说真的，我们是一起成长的。比如明天上海演唱会的观众，大部分人可能从我们都还是青少年的时候就开始关注我了。嗯，这真的很不可思议，也很特别。两年后我就要 30 岁了，但重要的是，我们在过去的 15 年里，始终保持着联结，这真的太特别了。
Very strong. I think we’ve gone through a lot; you know, they’ve seen me through every up and down in my career. Um, and there’s just always a sense of nostalgia - we’ve grown up together, seriously. Like most of everyone who will be at my show tomorrow in Shanghai - they’ve likely been following me since we were all teenagers. And that’s really crazy, that’s really special. I’m about to be 30 next year. And that’s a really special thing - we’ve been connected throughout our lives for 15 years.
UPEE：我们刚才聊到你明年要发行新专辑，能给我们透露一些小细节吗？
GC：当然可以。新专辑的首支单曲叫《Flip the Record》，我大概两周前刚发布。这张新专辑绝对是我至今创作过的最充满灵魂乐感觉的作品。我是 Amy Winehouse 的忠实粉丝，在录音室制作这张专辑时，我经常听她的歌。这张专辑里的一组歌曲，其实讲的是我在音乐行业里的成长历程。专辑里的每首歌都带有一些隐喻色彩。嗯，它讲的是从巅峰起步，经历每一次起伏的过程，以及这些经历对人的影响。就连《Flip the Record》这首歌的歌词里，也有很多内容能体现出我在音乐行业里感受到的对待方式。所以我觉得，这张专辑在很大程度上是自我反思的产物。这可能也是我第一张没有过多谈论感情生活的专辑，这点还挺好的。不过，这张专辑的自我反思色彩确实很浓。
Yes. The new album’s first single is a song called Flip the Record, which I put out like 2 weeks ago. The new album is definitely the most soulful thing I’ve ever done. I’m a massive Amy Winehouse fan, and I was listening to her a lot when I was in the studio working on this album. And it’s a collection of songs about really my journey in the industry. Everything is a bit of a metaphor on this album. Um, it’s about starting uh from the top and kind of writing every wave of that, and what it does to a person. And even Flip the Record - there’s a lot in the lyrics of that song that point to how I feel like I’ve been treated in the music industry. Um, and so I would say it’s self-reflective in that way. It’s probably the first album that I’ve made where I don’t talk too much about my love life, which is nice. Um, but this record is very self-reflective.
UPEE：对比新专辑和《Palladium》，从制作层面和你个人的状态来看，最大的变化是什么
GC：这张即将发行的新专辑依然是一张流行专辑，但《Palladium》给人的感觉不太一样。这次我想做一些更偏向流行风格的音乐，嗯。不过它会是属于我自己的流行音乐风格，嗯，会融入更多灵魂乐元素。而且不管我做什么音乐，里面总会带有一些俄克拉荷马州的特色 —— 那是我的故乡。所以这张新专辑会多一些 Americana 的感觉，还有一点乡村音乐特有的鼻音腔调。
This next record coming up is still a pop album. Palladium felt a little different. I wanted to make something a bit more in the pop lane, mhm. Um, but it feels like my own version of pop music. Um, so a lot more soul, and with everything I do, there’s always going to be a good amount of Oklahoma in it - that’s where I’m from. So a little more Americana, a little bit of a twang on this next album.
UPEE：距离你上次来中国巡演已经过去两年了，能和我们分享一下上次巡演中最让你印象深刻的瞬间吗？
GC：上次巡演最让我难忘的，是粉丝们给我的那些留言，真的让我深受触动。那次巡演我收到了很多信，我把它们都珍藏起来了。我把信放进了行李箱，回到美国的家里后，我还会经常翻看。每次看到这些信，我都很惊讶，中国粉丝竟然能把我的音乐融入自己的生活。这对我来说一直都很特别。所以这段回忆我会一直珍藏。我在想有没有更具体的瞬间——我很喜欢成都的熊猫，每次采访我都会提到这个。不过，嗯，我对这次巡演也很期待。
Yeah, what I remember most from the last tour is um I was really blown away by some of the messages that I received from fans. I got a lot of letters on the last tour, and I kept them all. I put them in my suitcase, and there are things that I go back to all the time - back in my house in the States, I reference them and look back, and I’m just constantly amazed by how my Chinese fans are able to take the music and apply it to their lives. Yeah, that’s always been so special to me. And so that’s a memory that I’ll keep. I’m trying to think of anything really specific - I love the pandas in Chengdu. I’ll say that in every interview. Um, but yeah, I’m excited for this tour.
UPEE：对这次巡演还有其他期待吗？比如想去哪些地方、尝试哪些美食，或者参与哪些活动？
GC：说实话，我其实最期待的是这次的演出本身。我们花了很长时间筹备这次巡演，说真的，我现在就想马上上台演出 —— 我感觉已经完全准备好了。明天的演出我更是迫不及待。我觉得我的期待很简单，就是希望粉丝们能早日看到这次的演出。这感觉就像你花了很久时间完成一件艺术作品，现在特别想拿给老师看，然后问一句 “您觉得我做得怎么样？”所以，我没有什么特别夸张的期待，就是准备好为粉丝们呈现精彩的演出了。
Yeah, honestly, I really just feel quite excited about the show itself. We’ve spent a long time designing this tour, and honestly, I wanna do the show right now - I feel so ready for it. I’m really ready for tomorrow. I think my expectation is that I’m just very ready for the fans to start seeing it. I feel like it’s almost like an art project that you’ve been working on for a really long time, and I’m really excited to now show it to my teacher and be like, “Ok, how did I do?” Um, and so yeah, that’s my expectation - no crazy expectations, just ready to start delivering for the fans.
